Autumn 1 Week 6

Aspire Suite

This week has been an exciting one in Aspire as we prepared for some very special visitors. Parents and carers were invited to our Autumn Art Gallery, where we proudly showcased the fantastic work the children have been creating. Guests were also treated to a selection of delicious spooky snacks, making the event even more memorable.

Maths

Years 3 and 4 have been developing their understanding of doubles, near doubles and adding three one-digit numbers.

Years 5 and 6 have been learning to add and subtract 1s, 10s, 100s and 1,000s, building confidence with place value and mental calculation strategies.

English

This week, both groups have been using colourful semantics to support their sentence writing. The children enjoyed creating a range of Halloween-themed sentences and developing their vocabulary and language skills.

Topic

During our afternoon sessions, pupils have been busy preparing for our Autumn Art Gallery. They explored how nature can be used to create artwork and portraits, producing a variety of imaginative pieces. Children decorated leaves to create Halloween-themed art and carved pumpkins by carefully following instructions they had written during their English lessons.

Our Autumn Art Gallery was a huge success. Parents and carers attended to view the children's artwork and enjoy the spooky treats on offer. The children took great pride in preparing their creations, and it was wonderful to spend such a lovely afternoon celebrating their achievements with families.
