Wow! What an incredibly busy week it has been in 4M. I am so proud of all of 4M for their hard work in completing their assessments.

We had a visit from the Rotary Club where they gave each child a dictionary. A big thank you to the Rotary Club.

We have completed a sentence stacking lesson this week focussing on our book of the Iron Man where we have used adjectives, dialogue and repetition to create 3 sentences.

In Maths, we have continued looking at place value, where this week's focus has been on 1, 10, 100, 1000, more or less than a given number. We have also looked at partitioning four-digit numbers in different ways.

In Science, we looked at our experiment from last week and wrote down the changes that had happened.

In Geography, we looked at grid references.

In PSHE, we had group discussions based on photos and discussed whether they met some of the children's rights.

Our second full week back and what another incredible week it has been.

We have completed a science experiment looking at how different liquids affect our teeth. We have looked at the importance of attending the dentist and the importance of looking after our teeth.

In History, we looked at Athens and how they voted for their leader. We looked at how Athens wanted better for their city because of their tyrant leadership.

In Art, we looked at ‘ground’ and ‘underpainting’ and how it is a technique of painting in layers.

In Maths, we looked at thousands and represented numbers to 10,000. We have also been practising our times tables.

In English, we have continued our sentence stacking lessons based on Iron Man, using onomatopoeia, pathetic fallacy, adjectives and verbs.

In Geography, we looked at map scales and compared the distance between places in Kings Lynn.

In Maths, we have been looking at representing and partitioning numbers to 1000. This has included identifying hundreds, tens and ones in a range of numbers and explaining how numbers can be broken down in different ways. We have also looked at using number lines and finding different starting and end points to find the difference and work out the intervals. Pupils have practised reading number lines carefully, counting on and back accurately, and using their knowledge of place value to support their calculations.

In English, we have begun our sentence stacking lessons based on 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. We have used questions, adjectives and verbs to create sentences.

In PSHE, we discussed 'What we should do when another person is speaking? How can you show kind behaviour in class? Why do we take turns in a group?' Children came up with responses of waiting until the person has finished talking before saying something, listening to what the person is saying, showing respect, and so, it is fair.

In Science, we looked at the food groups and why things like protein and carbohydrates are important for our body.

In Spelling with having been practising the 'au' and 'augh'.

An incredible first two days here in 4M.

We looked at our zones of regulations, understanding what they are and how to use them. We completed some maths work using concrete resources to represent numbers to 1000. In English, we chose a picture and looked at nouns, verbs and adjectives. We then completed sentences including these nouns, verbs and adjectives. In PSHE, we looked at a class team and how our attitudes and actions can impact on our class team. In Art, we looked at how artists can use tone to show form and drama.
