Autumn 1 Week 1

Aspire Suite

This week in Aspire, we have focused on settling into life at Parkway Academy, learning new routines, expectations, and building positive relationships within our new environment.

Maths
We explored the value of numbers and used a range of practical, concrete resources to support our counting and number recognition skills.

English
Both groups were introduced to the story of Paddington. Pupils enjoyed learning about Paddington's journey and were able to discuss and identify how he might have felt after being left at Paddington Station.

History

  • Years 3/4 have begun learning about early hunter-gatherers and what life was like during this period of history.

  • Years 5/6 started exploring the causes of the First World War and discussing the significant events that led to the conflict.

Science

  • Years 3/4 began investigating the human body, learning about the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles.

  • Years 5/6 were introduced to the concept of gestation and explored how living things grow and develop before birth.

Geography

  • Years 3/4 were introduced to compass points and learnt how they help us describe and follow directions.

  • Years 5/6 developed their geographical knowledge by identifying and labelling lines of longitude and latitude on maps and globes.

We are incredibly proud of how well all pupils have adapted to the new routines and expectations this week and look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead.
